Welcome Home

I am learning to love myself.

Learning to love ourselves is crucial if we really want to be happy.   It’s also the key to learning to love others.  When we accept and love ourselves, it becomes more natural and much easier to love others.  If we paid close attention to our inner dialogue, we would be horrified at some of the things we say to ourselves.  I ask myself sometimes if I would  talk to a child the way I talk to myself.  Of course I wouldn’t.  So why am I speaking to my inner child that way? Then it becomes easier to talk to myself in a more tender and loving way.

The Mind can be  our greatest friend or our greatest enemy. When we think well of ourselves,  when we respect ourselves, when we are kind to ourselves and have patience with our shortcomings, we are also able to treat others with love and respect.  Our small  world becomes a better place.

I create Art for the Spirit

I invite you to explore the inner spaces of the heart with me,where we will find beauty, love, compassion, kindness, creativity, wisdom and true knowledge.

There are two different tools that I use on this journey.  One is a positive attitude toward my life and my world. The other is making art that is positive, affirming, and uplifting to my Spirit  and to the Spirit of those who engage with my art in its different forms.

I will be sharing my writing and my artwork with you on these pages, and we will see where that takes us.  You will be able to interact with me via comments which are enabled on every page.  I welcome questions, ideas and sharing from your own life.  I look forward to a strong and vibrant relationship.  Many thanks for your participation.

More on Stamp Carving

Hand Carved Stamps by Cindy Silverstein

Over the last several years I have been carving my own rubber stamps from the very friendly Speedball Speedy Stamps using a the Speedball carving set pictured above. These stamps are samples of some of the stamps I have carved.  I’ve used them in my mixed media paintings, with polymer clay, shrink film jewelry, Paperclay, cards, ribbons, fabric.  The uses are numerous.  I wanted you to see my history of stamp carving.  I’ve decided to take it up again between painting projects for the relaxation it offers and for the fun of using  some new stamped images in my many projects.  One of the discoveries evident to me when I go back to an art activity after a long absence, is how different the results are from my previous efforts. The artwork that I have been doing during my break from stamping has had a positive effect on my stamp designs.  My approach is more confident with more spontaneity and the style has evolved over time. When I take a break from my predominant art activity, which has been painting for quite some time, playing with a new medium can be very refreshing and give my enthusiasm a boost.
